Default ISOs and SafeDisc
Is there a way to make legal backups of CDs while getting around SafeDisc? I have Alcohol 52% and can make images, but I can't burn them without upgrading to 120%. Using other applications I can burn a copy, but I'm assuming they're not working because of SafeDisc 2/3. Thanks in advance!

We have covered this before. No, there is no legal way. It's not backing up that's illegal, it's breaking the encryption that's illegal.

yes, idaho, and according to my info i live in zed-zed-9-plural-zed-alpha, and as we all know zed-zed-9-plural-zed-alpha is a decient sized planet that only exists in some realitys.
Ok im done being off-topic.
But yes, back up all your games all you want, just dont crack the simple encryption that prevents you from playing said back-ups, and what-ever you do, dont play said back-ups on a chipped game system or with an emulator.

It's Rosetta Stone, a foreign language curriculum. I use it so often that I wanted to make a copy to prevent it from being scratched up. Possibly also to run it on a virtual drive, which hasn't worked for some reason.

OK...in you lived in a country not bound by the DMCA...

The game you have is SaveDisk 2.9 protected, which is extremely difficult to burn because to sucussfuly replicate it you must have an EXTREMELY good burner.

Safedisc 2.9 uses 10000 bad sectors at the front ofthe disk, which messes up most burners and programs.

You can try CloneCD, there's a trial version avaliable for it. But, if your burner can't read or burn the bad sectors, you'er out of luck.

you're best bet would be to read the CD in CloneCD or Alcohol 52% and run it through either Alcohol's virtual Drive or Dameon Tool's virtual drive (Dameon Tools is FREe)

Ive spent a lot of time trying to back up games...and a lot of it is trial aand error...especially Safedisc because it is burner dependent.
Download and install the trial of CloneCD from Slysoft.com and download boht the Safedisc profiels from this page:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread....threadid=46470

place both of these files in "C:\Program Files\Slysoft\CloneCD\Profiles".

Try to read the image to the HD in CloneCd with both of these profiles, seeing if it works each time.
do not burn the image back to a CD, mount it in a virtual Drive. You can use Alcohol 52%, but I reccomend Dameon Tools:
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/down...tegory&catid=5

Once installed, right click on the icon in the lower right corner (the lightning box) and click Emulation>All Options On.
Then Rt click it again and click "Virtual CD/DVD ROM">"Device 0 [No Media]" and click Mount Image. Mount the .CCD file that CloneCD generates (not the .img file, there will be more than one file that CloneCd outputs)

see if that works, try it once with each of the CloneCD profiles.

sorry for the bad instructions...im in a bit of a rush...
If it doesn't make sense, Ill clarify after you say so.

i say we show how its done and let them know its "illegal" because I don't agree that we should not be able to back up our own CDs that we have purchased.

Are we a complient country?

sorry to say, we are.

the government believes that you are allowed a backup of anything you own, but if to make the backup, you must remove the encryption...that is illegal.

But technically, you are not removing the encryption off a SafeDisc game...If your burner can burn the Bad Sectors, you still have an encrypred disc.
Or, if you emulate it through a virtual drive, it doesn't "remove" the encryption from the disc.

Im not exactly sure if what I just said is true...but I know for sure that using a Patched (more commonly known as "Cracked" )copy of the game is illegal, because that actually removes the encryption from your computer.
