Unhappy DVD Burner problems..
Ok everyone..

It's been a long time since I have asked for help.. lol


Here goes..



4 months ago I bought a Pioneer DVD burner online from one of my favorite stores..

It worked wonderfully for the whole 4 months and then recently it gave up on me. Now when I place a blank DVD in the drive it tells me no media is present but it will burn CD-R's with no problem..

I even tested it:
I installed the drive into my room mates computer and had the same problem..
I figured it was just the drive and it was just time to buy a new one..


Today I went and bought a new Memorex DVD burner..

All the specs match up and it should work like a charm(or so I thought)..
After I installed it I had the same exact problem..


Can anyone come up with a reason as to why this is happening or solution to the problem?

hmmm...have you tried using the new burner in another computer aside from yours and the one you already tested?

no.. I only have 2 computers..

I am about to put the new one in my room mates computer to see if I have any luck with it there..


Odd thing though..

It will read all types of media..
It writes CD-R and CD-RW with no problems..

Food for thought, have you replaced the cable to it?

Also if your psu is getting weak it will give you problems. Last burner I had that acted like that was both cable and burner.

Thanks for the response..


The IDE cable was replaced with all of the 3 spares I have to see if that had been the problem as well.

I even went ahead and dropped the burner in my room mates PC and it still did the same thing.

The PSU could be failing I guess.
It's about 3 years old and I have had a few problems with it already..

This computer is getting too old and too expensive to maintain..
I think i'm going to just go ahead and buy a new one. lol


although
Why it didn't work in the other computer is beyond me.. unless that one
is having problems too...

Default DVD Burner problems
hahaha yeah... there is no possible way to burn a dvd with out a dvd burner... unless u want to create an ISO but still no way to burn it into a dvd
