Exclamation Internal Expansion Slot Extension
I have a custom built PC which only has one available expansion slot to which I want to add a firewire card I already own (and fits the slot). Unfortunately, the graphics card I have has a large heatsink and cooling fan which comes very close to the firewire card when installed, and I am concerned that the graphics card will overheat if I install it. My case has plenty of empty expansion card slots, but the motherboard does not extend into this area.

I am wondering if there are expansion boards or some form of ribbon cable that would allow me to plug into the empty expansion port and then connect to the firewire card and use one of the empty slots further down the case (I realize this is not structurally so secure - but do not want to buy another motherboard just to get access to my firewire card).

Any suggestions?

this company has what you need:
http://www.adexelec.com/pci32.htm
about half way down the page, such as the, PCI-FLEX-04

can't vouch for them, never done business with them before though.

Default Internal Expansion Slot Extension
There are no pci slots persay on a laptop. Your laptop should have either a pcmcia or express54 slot. Theses are for add on cards that will do what you need to do. Google for either one, or both.
